In game two of the eastern conference quarterfinals the New York Rangers barely escaped with the victory 2-1 over the New Jersey Devils in Newark, NJ. Henrik Lundqvist stopped 26 out of 27 shots and now the Rangers take a 2-0 series lead in the best of seven. Jaromir Jagr and Sean Avery scored 23 seconds apart in the third period. The Devils have not been able to answer the splendid goaltending of Henrik Lundvist. Including the regular season the Devils have not scored more than three goals in any game against the Rangers. In 11 games the Devils have only been able to score 10 goals.
Martin Brodeur, who is the Devils goalie said, "They are differently taking control of the series, so far they have gotten the bounces, we just need to do what they did to us and beat them in there place."
Game three is going to played Sunday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The Devils face a tall task, because the Rangers have never lost a playoffs series in which they led two games to none. Devils captain Jamie Langenbrunner said, "Obviously we don't want to go down three games to none. We have to throw it all out there."
