Besides March Madness in College basketball, not many people get exited about other sports for a while till several things happen, the NHL playoffs, Yankees-Red Sox, and the Masters in Augusta, GA. In one early weekend in April all these sporting events will take place.
First, you have an early season match up between The New York Yankees visiting the The World Series Champions The Boston Red Sox on Friday night. Mike Francesca who is a radio host of the WFAN'S Mike and the Mad dog, said, "It is way too early for these teams to play, we should wait two months for them to play, so there is some sort of build up." It make not have the same feel, because several players are going to absent due to injuries and the pitching rotation, Derek Jeter-quad injury, Mike Lowell-sprained thumb, and Andy Pettitte, who pitched in last night's Yankees game.
Second, The NHL playoffs, possible MVP winner Alex Ovechkin gets set to start in his first career playoff game against the Philadelphia Flyers. You also have the fiercest rivalry in hockey, The New York Rangers vs The New Jersey Devils who face-off in game 2 of there playoffs series. The Rangers won game one 4-1, with a stellar performance from Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist, who stopped 26 out of 27 from the Devils. During the regular season the Rangers won seven out of eight match ups against the Devils.
Last but not least we have The Masters in Golf in Augusta, GA. Tiger Woods who maybe the best Golfer ever to play the game tries to continue his hot streak of winning major championships.
